Named as Adapt BB and equipped with self-lacing system, Nike is going to launch new self-lacing basketball shoes. When users put the feet into shoes, a motor and gear train take over and adjust the tightness of shoes automatically.
Just before Christmas, Nike revealed that its redesigned self-lacing shoes would arrive in 2019. The self-lacing system can be operated through an app. “During a normal basketball game the athlete’s foot changes and the ability to quickly change your fit by loosening your shoe to increase blood flow and then tighten again for performance is a key element that we believe will improve the athlete’s experience,” says Eric Avar, Nike VP Creative Director of Innovation.
Costing 350 US$, Nike’s Adapt BB are expected to hit the market in springtime of 2019 (Northern Hemisphere).
