Rise Outdoor, a Canadian company, has created a clever camping solution called the AirNEST system, which combines an inflatable tent with a built-in mattress. This setup is designed to make camping more comfortable and hassle-free. By combining the ease of an inflatable tent with the comfort of a spacious air mattress, the AirNEST simplifies the outdoor experience.
The tent uses an inflatable ribcage-style frame that sets up in just a few minutes. It features a 50D waterproof poly fabric top with a 3,000mm hydrostatic head rating to keep you dry, even in wet weather. The base is constructed from 210D Dacron and 420D puncture-resistant Oxford nylon, providing durability and protection from the ground. Additional features include large mesh-covered doors at both the front and rear, allowing easy entry while keeping bugs out. The AirNEST also comes with a zip-on vestibule, useful for storing items like wet boots or gear. For added convenience, the tent has three built-in wall pockets to hold essentials like phones, flashlights, or books.
The inflatable mattress that comes with the AirNEST spans the tent’s entire 42.5-square-foot floor area. Made from puncture-resistant 420D Oxford ripstop nylon, it attaches securely to the tent walls using zippers, ensuring a snug fit. With an R-value of 4.0, the queen-sized mattress provides good insulation from the ground, keeping campers warm and cozy. The mattress can even accommodate up to three adults comfortably.
Setting up the AirNEST is quick and efficient with the included Airbank electric pump. This pump can inflate the tent and mattress in just two minutes each. The pump is versatile and programmable, able to inflate items up to 20 psi and equipped with a 15,600-mAh lithium-ion battery. Besides inflating the tent and mattress, the Airbank can be used to charge electronic devices like phones or Bluetooth speakers, making it a handy tool for campers.
The AirNEST mattress isn’t limited to just sleeping use; it’s buoyant enough to float on water, making it great for relaxing on a nearby lake. In fact, the entire setup can be used as a floating tent, turning any waterbody into a private escape. The whole system, including the tent, mattress, and backpack, weighs just 22.88 pounds (10.38 kg), while the Airbank pump adds an additional 2.28 pounds (1.26 kg).
Rise Outdoor has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the AirNEST, and early backers can secure the setup for CA$1,099 (approximately US$789), which is 21% less than the expected retail price. If successful, this all-in-one camping solution promises to elevate camping trips by making setup easy and enhancing overall comfort.
